Mission Statement

We are experts in brand development and communication design for organizations involved with culture, fashion and architecture.

We work with companies and institutions to help craft their brand personalities and introduce them to the public. Our teams of designers, writers and strategists work among all disciplines to establish and convey a consistent voice, attitude, and point of view.

This is important because – as with people – organizations are judged by what they say, how they look, and the way they act. (We can help with the first two. The third – and most important one – is up to you.)

Along the way, we have developed a particular focus and expertise in implementing sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially responsible practices.

While the work our firm undertakes is quite varied, our approach to solving problems is consistent: Do the research, ask a lot of prodding questions, establish an appropriate plan of action, and, above all, always determine what a design should do before thinking about what it should look like.

We then produce a solution that is direct, appropriate, memorable, and seems effortless.

This approach has worked well, as we at Alexander Isley Inc. have earned the trust of our clients while gaining an international reputation for innovative, influential and effective work.

Type of work and disciplines represented in the firm

At Alexander Isley Inc., our expertise lies in the design and development of corporate communications, brand identities, and publications. We are also well known for award–winning work in the areas of architectural signage, retail merchandising, packaging, and exhibition graphics.

How the company works with clients

We attribute the success of our company's work to our history of collaborating with clients who have a strong belief in the value of their own products and services. More than anything else, however, what sets Alexander Isley Inc. apart is the stubbornly unusual way in which we approach our assignments: We assume that our audiences are smart.

The result

Our work is meticulously researched, but seems spontaneous. It is both engaging and effective. And our clients know that what we do is delivered on strategy, on time, and on budget.

Since its founding in 1988, Alexander Isley Inc. has been an influential presence within the international design community. The firm's work has been featured in numerous publications and has received widespread recognition.

Examples of Alexander Isley Inc.'s work are represented in the permanent collection of the Cooper–Hewitt Museum, the Smithsonian Institution's National Design Museum, SF Moma, and the YCS Design Library in Japan. Our work has also been exhibited at the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris and the New York Art Directors' Club.

Alex Isley is the President of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) NY.
