Project Description
Elkus/Manfredi worked with Andersen Consulting to incorporate office-of-the-future concepts such as just-in-time and hoteling, provide a flexible design, recognizing that growth patterns may not be consistent and that project demands create surge requirements, and foster improved communication/collegiality among partners, consultants, and their team members. The rehabilitated 62,000 square foot, 100-percent-hoteled facility offers work areas based on the type of space needed. All employees utilize the in-house hotelier to reserve rooms for specific times and uses. Appropriate arrangements are made, and spaces are constantly utilized, rather than sitting vacant while consultants are traveling. Various sizes and types of pace were designed. Acoustically private areas replace private offices and are reserved according to need - not status.
The transparency of the new design and incorporation of "town forum" spaces heighten communication. No longer boxed in, there is more employee collaboration and cross-fertilization. The design gives on-site staff increased access to daylight. Technology was designed into the infrastructure. Voice and data ports were installed throughout the building.
