In 2001, Mandalay Bay came of age as measured by an interesting Las Vegas yardstick: championship boxing. Mandalay Bay became one of the elite few qualified to host these world-class events. It had the glitz, the glamour, the staff experience and the facilities needed to meet the criteria set by promoters, media, fight aficionados and fans. In this annual report, we commissioned four photographers to cover a world championship event from weigh-in to knockout. They were positioned at ringside and at media stations and on the catwalks ten stories above the ring. An awesome sense of power and energy radiated from everywhere in the arena. We set out to capture that intense mix of raw emotion and glamour in our photography and design.
