Mission Statement

HLB is an employee-owned product design and development firm offering strategic planning, industrial design, full mechanical and electrical engineering, agency approval support, and prototyping services. We are experts in the process of product design and development using a formal stage-gate review process.

Type of work and disciplines represented in the firm

HLB uses proprietary research techniques, which differ from typical focus groups. Supporting the research are project teams consisting of industrial designers, engineers, project managers, and account managers. Teams are selected for specific expertise from the staff of 80. Product development programs culminate in finished working prototypes with full manufacturing documentation and support. Material development services and manufacturing equipment development are available through HLB's joint venture partners at Foster Miller, the largest privately held R&D firm in the country. Marketing support and market sell-in expertise is available through joint venture partner, Marketing Support Inc.
