Mancini Duffy-Airbus Industrie of North America |
The North American headquarters facility for the world's second largest aircraft manufacturer occupies 45,000 square feet in Northern Virginia's high-tech corridor. The workplace strategy centered on creating an image that reflected the stature of the organization within their industry as well as their multi-national roots. The new office is seen as an asset that supports the "branding" of Airbus through the use of architectural elements that subtly reflect aircraft manufacturing, and the integral display of aircraft in the reception area. The work environment incorporates efficient private offices that support the work process requirements by using desk-based systems furniture, thereby allowing for smaller offices. At the same time, the planning strategy created "pods" of coffee bars and copy centers located at major intersections to encourage interaction between staff and to break down traditional departmental territories.
